HARKET'S SINGLE
By Lena Storvand (translation by cindy kandolf)
Morten Harket has recorded a new song. In two weeks it will be sent out
to the radio station.
And at the end of April, the album from which "Jungle of Belief" comes
will be released: "Culture Spans the World".
Vocals: Morten Harket, Words: Morten Harket and Ole Sverre Olsen, Melody:
Ragnar Bjerkreim.
"The song is very melodic and sounds a little like an Irish folksong,"
says composer Bjerkreim.
The music was recorded for a major Swedish documentary series of the same
name as the album, which will be broadcast on [Swedish TV channel] SVT1.
NRK Aktivum [in Norway] has also bought the rights.
"A meditative, reflective, quiet album," according to the composer's own
description of the soundtrack.
"SIMPLE COMPOSER"
Morten's vocals were recorded in September, just before preparations for
a-ha's reunion really took off.
Bjerkreim collaborated with Morten Harket once before, when he wrote the
music for the film "Kamilla and the Thief". Morten made his acting debut
in that movie and sang the title song.
Composer Bjerkreim has also composed the music for another Norwegian
children's movie and the opening music for several NRK television
programs.
He has also had the lucrative job of writing the music for a BBC program
on Thor Heyerdahl, "The Kon-Tiki Man". He has earned roalties from 25-30
countries which have bought the rights to the music over the course of
ten years.
"I'm a simple composer who is never seen, but I hope I am heard," says
Ragnar Bjerkheim about his business.
